Barrier-free, safe and attractive: In autumn 2022 it was clear that Nidau train station would be restructured and expanded. On behalf of Aare Seeland mobil AG and the civil engineering department of the canton of Bern, Marti AG Bern, which specializes in infrastructure and specialist civil engineering, carried out the work, which lasted approximately one year.
During the construction project, various work was carried out both during ongoing rail operations and in night and weekend shifts. The project was divided into three stages:
In the first step, work was carried out on the electrical systems, drainage, the foundations for the contact line and the signaling for railway operations. In a subsequent intensive phase of 8 weeks, the old train station and the old tracks were dismantled and rebuilt. In the final phase, adjustments were made to the cantonal and municipal roads as well as various completion work.
Collaboration
During the project the Express Personal AG Bern in collaboration with Marti AG Bern to integrate several temporary employees on a long-term basis. We and our temporary employees are extremely grateful for the trusting and transparent cooperation with Marti AG Bern. The newly created roundabout now functions as a central traffic hub south of the old town, and rail operations have fully resumed since September 2023.
